Virtusium Performance Health Ltd
Scope of Practice
Purpose and Clients
Virtusium supports adults, particularly CEOs, executives and senior leaders, to build capacity for sustainable performance while giving their health appropriate priority.
Our work recognises the relationship between personal wellbeing, leadership responsibilities and the demands of everyday life.
Services include individual and group coaching, workshops, speaking, educational resources and separately agreed leadership and organisational advisory work.
Health Coaching
Health coaching is a collaborative, non-clinical partnership. The client determines their priorities, goals and actions.
Virtusium facilitates reflection, self-directed change and confidence, using evidence-based coaching methods within the practitioner’s competence.
With permission, we share relevant, evidence-based general health information and explore what it means to the client. This is education, rather than individual health advice or prescription.
Areas We Explore
Depending on the client’s priorities, conversations may explore sleep routines, eating habits, everyday movement, recovery, stress, relationships and the working arrangements that support capacity.
We help clients consider what is realistic alongside their responsibilities, identify obstacles, choose manageable actions and review their experiences.
Goals, accountability arrangements and measures of progress are agreed together. Clients retain the right to decline information, change direction or stop coaching.
Boundaries
Virtusium does not assess symptoms, diagnose or treat conditions, interpret clinical tests, prescribe medication or supplements, provide personalised dietary or exercise prescriptions, or deliver psychotherapy. We do not claim to prevent or cure disease.
Health coaching can support a client to implement recommendations already agreed with their qualified healthcare professional; it does not replace that professional’s advice or care.
Executive Capacity Diagnostic
The Executive Capacity Diagnostic is a self-report reflection and coaching tool. It helps structure discussion about the client’s experience of their habits and capacity.
Its scores and narratives are not a clinical diagnosis, medical screening result, assessment of fitness for work or prediction of future illness.
They must not be used to determine treatment, employment decisions or whether medical attention is needed. The word “Diagnostic” refers to the coaching framework only.
Leadership and Organisational Work
Leadership coaching may explore responsibility, decisions, boundaries, delegation and working practices.
Separately contracted advisory work may offer recommendations on leadership or organisational arrangements, drawing on Jon Betts’s relevant experience and competence.
At the outset, we explain whether the engagement involves coaching, education or advisory work. Any change of role is discussed and agreed.
Leadership experience and advisory services do not extend our clinical scope. Organisational work does not substitute for occupational health assessment, clinical services or specialist legal advice.
Referral and Collaboration
At the outset and throughout an engagement, we consider whether coaching is appropriate.
Where a concern requires expertise beyond our competence, we explain the boundary and support access to a suitable professional, such as a GP, registered dietitian, physiotherapist or mental health practitioner.
Relevant coaching may continue alongside professional care where appropriate. Work is paused or declined when the client’s needs cannot be supported safely within this scope.
Immediate safety concerns are directed to appropriate urgent or emergency services; coaching and between-session messaging are not crisis services.
Collaboration and information sharing are agreed with the client, subject to the confidentiality limits explained in the coaching agreement.
Agreements and Confidentiality
Before work begins, clients receive clear information about the service, fees, contact arrangements, confidentiality, record handling, cancellation and complaints.
Where an employer funds coaching, the client, sponsor and Virtusium agree what may be reported.
Individual health information, diagnostic responses and session content are not routinely disclosed to the sponsor. Exceptions relating to safeguarding, serious risk or legal obligations are explained in advance.
Group participants are asked to respect confidentiality, with the limits of group confidentiality made clear.
Professional Accountability
Practice is limited by the practitioner’s completed qualifications, demonstrated competence and appropriate insurance. Qualifications and professional affiliations are described accurately.
Virtusium maintains continuing development, reflective practice and appropriate professional support.
Further training does not automatically expand the services offered. This scope is reviewed annually and whenever qualifications, services or professional requirements change.
